Great atmosphere and superb service: Restaurant Extravaganza (23. November 2024)

The name promises an exciting experience, and in all fairness, the place is actually quite lovely. Now, when you walk by, I’m not sure, I would have walked in, but after substantial research, I decided to give the place a try, and it was worth it. The location is small and there aren’t too many tables, but luckily my table was available when I got there. The staff was truly professional and super friendly – they were attentive and made sure that the dishes would be served in a ‘timed’ way so that I would not have to eat all at the same time (as it seems that Greek kitchens are super swift and efficient).

The first starter were “seasonal greens, baked beetroot, orange, walnuts, tahini and yogurt cream” (EUR 9.50), which was actually absolutely delicious. Not necessarily what I had expected from greens, since there was this thick yogurt cream with tahini, which was exquisite.

The “beef tartare, mushrooms mayo, pickled cucumber, capers, cured egg yolk” (EUR 14.50) was definitely not the purest of beef tartars I’ve ever had since it was mixed with quite a few elements, but with the pita bread, it was absolutely delicious.

The “paccheri with cuttlefish ink, shrimps, chorizo, bisque sauce” (EUR 17.00) were absolutely lovely! Not only did they look a bit different than usually, but they were also just great in terms of texture and went super well with the sauce. Even the shrimp wasn’t too dry which it all too often is, so, an absolutely great dish.

Last but not least, I went for the fish of the day, which was a “sea bass, frikase greens, celeriac root purree” (EUR 17.00) and that was rather tasty too. A tiny bit too dry for my personal gusto, but other than that great and flavourful.

Last but not least, it was time for a dessert, which was definitely too intense for my palate. The chocolate toffee was thick and too sweet for my personal gusto.

All in all, the Extravaganza holds its promise – it offers great and surprising food for a reasonable price in a lovely atmosphere with excellent service. Given the size of the restaurant, it’s definitely worth booking in advance.
