Good seafood with a lovely view onto the sea: Restaurant Maré (30. December 2024)

It was great to return to the Maré after more than 2 years, and it’s just the same as I had it in my memory. They close at 5 pm, so you need to make sure to arrive there at least by 4.30 pm as else they will not allow you to order anything from the kitchen. Luckily, one was early enough and could order with a friendly waiter. I went for the “seabass ceviche (leche de tigre sauce, arenke roe, red onion, ginger, red chilli, mango, sweet potato, crunchy corn)” (EUR 23.00), which was superbly tasty. The mixture of the different ingredients and the different textures was just great.

Then, upon the recommendation of the waiter, I went for the “shrimp ‘à Guilho’ (garlic, lemon, butter, brandy)” (EUR 24.00) as a main course, which was actually also great, especially since the gambas came in a delicious sauce, which went well with the garlic bread.

What is definitely great about the place is the view you have onto the sea, which is overall just lovely. It’s rather crowded, which is kind of normal for that time of the day, since it’s close to sundown, but it is still a lovely view you have from the restaurant (best to get a table close to the windows, since it gives you a better view).

All in all, the Maré remains a good place – tasty dishes, fair prices, and a great view. So, if you stay at the Pine Cliffs Resort, the Maré is a must-try.
