A good place for Swiss dishes – even when it’s not Metzgete: Restaurant Falken Wiedikon (7. January 2025)
I think about 90% of the times I’ve been to the Falken Wiedikon in the past 5 years was when they had their Metzgete. Today was one of the days, where I ended up here without the Metzgete. I went for the “Flat Iron beef steak with red wine sauce, with potatoes au gratin, winter vegetables” (CHF 44.00), which was fine. I mean, the meat was good, but the overall dish was relatively boring. Like, good, solid, home-made cuisine style, but really nothing, which excites you.
On the other hand, the “home-made pizokel with leaf spinach, chard, cabbage, au gratin with Jumi’s cheese and onion rings” (CHF 34.00) was actually delicious. Definitely not something you eat every day, but something absolutely enjoyable.
The waiter was friendly and attentive, and makes sure you have everything you want and need within no time. On top of that, the place is nice in terms of interior design – a traditional, old guest house, and secondly, there is enough space between the tables to have some privacy. And, it is rather crowded, so, I would highly recommend you to book in advance.
