3. December 2011: Restaurant Domus

| December 3, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Domus has a nice antipasta buffet wish freshly prepared salads, fried vegetables, a large bread buffet you can help yourself too. A small antipasta plate costs CHF 14.50 which is absolutely fair for the quality of the served food.

The main course was a pasta trilogy (CHF 39.50 per person – only served for 2 people or more) with three different types of pasta served: The “Tagliatelle Toscana with beef filet cubes, dried tomatoes, leek, garlic and peperoncini” was absolutely tasty, the noodles were a bit overcooked but the sauce was delicious and the beef filet cubes were medium-cooked – just perfect. The second pasta was “Fagottini al Gusto di tartufo” – Fagottini with truffles. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S – I can not describe it differently, the pasta was just a dream. Unfortunately, the third pasta “Linguine with prawns and chicken, spiced Asian” was not as great. While the prawns were delicious, the chicken was very dry and, therefore, not that overwhelming. The pasta was good but not as good as the other two. Overall I have to admit though, the pasta selection varies from good to extremly delicious.

The atmosphere in the Restaurant Domus is nice, the interior is wooden, the decoration is nice with wine bottles at the walls but somehow the restaurant room is a bit too spacious to make it very comfortable. Still, it is nice. The service is friendly but a bit slow – I had to wait quite a bit in the beginning until the waitress came to the table and brought me the menu which was a bit annoying.

The prices are pretty fair for what you get – although almost CHF 80.00 for a plate of pasta for two people is pretty much, it is worth the Fagottini al Gusto di tartufo and the Tagliatelle Toscana – they were great. The prices for water (San Pellegrino, 0,5L, CHF 6.80) and a Double Espresso (CHF 5.60) are pretty fair. A glas of Barolo DOCG costs CHF 9.50 which is pretty okay.

Overall, the Restaurant Domus is a nice place to go where you get good food. The atmosphere is a bit too spacious for my personal taste but still very nice. The service is friendly and helpful but was somehow a bit too unattentive overall. All in all: I can recommend going there when you are in Zug.
