26. December 2009: Restaurant 635 Café
The 635 Café is situated in the Colonia Jardín Balbuena close to a “Home Depot” store. It’s best to access it either by foot or taxi and to be honest from the beginning on, it’s a good place to go if you’re close to Home Depot anyway but it’s not worth hours of travelling.
The place is nicely and neatly decorated and reminds somehow of the 80ies … or something like that (I mean, how am I supposed to know how the 80ies, 70ies or 60ies looked like, right?). At least, it makes a nice impression on you and even the waiter is wearing his hair in some fitting way to the decoration.
The waiter was friendly and helpful but a bit disappointed when we only ordered three drinks and a “torta con pollo” (see below) and he obviously showed it. This is something a waiter shouldn’t do – or at least hide it so the guests won’t notice it.
The drinks – I had an “Agua 635” which is a mix of fresh pineapple and guava – are very tasty and definitely recommendable.
The “torta con pollo” was good but wasn’t really Mexican – meaning, actually it’s supposed to be a bit different but, it was more like a sandwich, so not really special, still, it was good.
The 635 Café is a good place to go if you’re close to there because it has a nice decoration, very good drinks and acceptable food and waiters.
