2. February 2012: Restaurant Ibarus

| February 4, 2012 | 0 Comments

The starter was an Insalta Caprese (CHF 14.00) which was eatable. The mozzarrella was kind of chewy, not so fresh, and therefore, not that appealing. The tomatoes were okay but of course lacking a bit in taste as it is not really the season for them (so my bad). The sauce was okay, the pesto on top of it too. Overall, eatable but not really great.

My main course was a beef tatar (CHF 20.00) which was quite okay. The meat was good, the spiciness was good too, and the first round of toast was fine as well. Overall, good but not exciting. The second round of toast I’ve ordered was barely toasted – it served the purpose but was not really satisfying.

To sum it up, the dishes were okay but really not that overwhelming. The tatar was good (the meat), but nothing overly great. The prices are pretty fair too – I mean, the food is not that great but also the prices are not overly expensive and, therefore, it is okay. The atmosphere on the other hand is pretty nice – the interior is nicely designed, the paintings on the walls are very nice and appealing. The owner is Swiss with Italian heritage and he’s quite nice and talkative.

The service is okay – a bit slow, but they were friendly and helpful. Once they forgot to bring a second beer but the mistake was corrected quickly. Overall, the Restaurant Ibarus is an okay place to go and eat something but it is nothing really outstanding.
