8. April 2012: Café de Flore
According to foursquare, the Café de Flore has the best chocolate in town so I decided that I had to try this “Chocolate Chaud” (EUR 6.80). The chocolate was definitely tasty and good (although I am not a big chocolate fan myself) and you were able to get four cups out of it. I also had a tea (EUR 6.00) which was good and fresh.
The Café de Flore is a very ancient coffee house where you find a lot of original people from Paris – which might also be due to the fact that the Café de Flore was a hot spot during the time of existentialism where Simone de Beauvoir and others met. The place is crowded and the tables are tiny but still it provides you with a pretty comfortable feeling. The waiters are French as you would expect them to be but are quite friendly. And even the prices are quite okay. By the way, it is located right across the street of the Brasserie Lipp which is quite famous too. Overall, the Café de Flore is a nice place to take a break, have a chocolate or a tea and enjoy the lively French afternoon in a French café.
