13. April 2012: The Mint Bar @The Westin

| April 17, 2012 | 0 Comments

It was a Skinny B!+€h (EUR 10.00) which I had in The Mint Bar in the Westin Dublin Hotel. It was made of Grey Goose le citron vodka, cointreau, fresh raspberries, fresh lime juice and blueberry juice and it was pretty tasty. It came from the Superfoods card so it was pretty light but good nevertheless. And the prices are pretty okay – comparing e.g. to the Le Méridien in Paris where a drink accounts for around EUR 15.00.

While the drink was pretty good, I must say that the atmosphere is not that outstanding. The location itself is nice but somehow they did not manage to make that much out of it (although the place has been awarded a few times as being one of the best or even the best cocktail bar in Dublin). The furniture looks somewhat random and not really fitting very well.

The personnel is friendly but very unattentive – we had to wait more than 15 minutes until someone showed up at our table to take our orders. And the place was not really that crowded, most customers were already served and there were 7 (!) waiters around which I consider quite enough. Still, it took them ages. When the order was placed, it did not take them long to bring the drink but as stated, it took them way too long to take up the order.

Overall, the drinks are good I must admit but looking at it from the rest, I would not go to The Mint bar again unless you are a customer of the hotel as it is convenient then but otherwise, not worth it.
