28. April 2012: Café Mira Douro

| May 4, 2012 | 0 Comments

The soup of the day (EUR 1.50) was not clearly definable – assumingly it was some kind of vegetable soup (probably leftovers from the day before) but it was eatable. It lacked a bit in spices (salt and pepper) but that problem was solved quickly.

As a main course I had grilled sardines (EUR 8.50; sardinha assada) which were quite good. They were fresh from the ocean, good grilled and in combination with the fresh onions they were very tasty. The potatoes were a bit boring but there were enough sardines so you would not have to have too many potatoes.

The prices are pretty fair including a beer for EUR 1.00 but a cover charge of EUR 2.80 for that restaurant is quite a rip off – not that it is overly much but EUR 2.80 for a cover that simple is not really what one would expect. Also, there is cheese served which costs EUR 1.50 per piece. Still, the place is pretty simple (plastic chairs) but the view onto the Douro is very nice. The service is serving its purpose pretty much but nothing more than that. At least they are quick. Overall, it is okay to eat there as the food is not entirely bad and the view onto the Douro is very nice but besides that it is not really a place I would recommend.
