27. May 2012: Restaurant Wissingers im Schlechterbräu

| May 28, 2012 | 0 Comments

The tagliatelle with wild garlic pesto with tomatoes and olives (EUR 8.50; small portion on request EUR 6.50) were really good. The pasta was cooked al dente, the wild garlic pesto was intense and flavourful and the tomatoes and olives made the dish special.

The 300gr ribeye steak, specialty of the house, marbled with fat, was refined 36 hours in a sous vide bag with herb butter and French Fries (EUR 17.50). The ribeye steak was extremly tender and respectively tasty but at the end it was too marbled with fat so I had to leave a piece. But it was definitely very tasty. The French fries were crunchy and appropiately salted. Definitely a good dish.

The curd nougat dumplings in sweet breadcrumbs with apple sauce and vanilla ice cream (EUR 5.80) was quite sweet but also delicate – and it was even for free as there were Russian children playing in the patio and the waitress tried to make them calm several times. So in order to apologize for the bad behaviour of the other guests we got the desert on the house.

The prices are absolutely fair for what you get if you look at the dishes. But they are also fair for the wine (a bottle of Fabelhaft Tinto, 2009, EUR 26.00), water (0,75L; EUR 4.50) or an espresso (EUR 3.50).

The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice or rather in the little garden in the backyard of the restaurant. It is somehow cozy, the light is dimmed and it is quite quiet. The waitress was extremly friendly and nice and even gave us the coffee (or desert, I do not remember) for free because some spoiled Russian kids were running around in the garden being loud. Sometimes it took a bit long until she came to our table but other than that the service was almost perfect.

Overall, I can definitely recommend the Restaurant Wissinger’s. The dishes are great in taste (I would not go for the ribeye steak again as it was too marbled but the meat was great), the atmosphere outside is very nice, the waitress does a great job and the prices are very fair.
