28. May 2012: Restaurant Valentin

| May 28, 2012 | 0 Comments

According to TripAdvisor, the Restaurant Valentin is the number 1 in Lindau – and well, I must admit, I can actually sign that (although I have not tried all of them). You are welcomed to the little patio in the backyard which is very quiet and nice with a basked of bread with salted and peppered butter. The bread is fresh and good.

As a starter I had the “wild garlic cream soup with garlic rosmary croutons” (EUR 5.60) which was smooth and creamy. It was taste-intense and had the original flavour of wild garlic without being too penetrant (as you can often find it with wild garlic). The croutons were freshly made and good too.

The “Grilled cisco from Lake Constance with spinach caper vegetables and roasted new potatoes” (EUR 18.50) was very tasty. The fish was fresh, juicy and taste-intense, the potatoes were well salted and the vegetable combination rounded it up perfectly. Overall, the dish was a bit small but well composed and the single elements fit very well together.

Even the desert was thought-through: The “toblerone mousse with mango sorbet” (EUR 9.50) was great. The mousse au chocolate was tender and smooth, the mango sorbet had an intense mango flavour. And it was very nicely decorated with the character of the restaurant in chocolate powder.

As previously mentioned, the patio in the backyard is not so obvious to find but it is worth going there as you are beautifully exposed to the sun, it is nicely decorated with comfortable furniture. And the place provides you somehow with this feeling of you being in a little hide-away area and having lots of privacy.

The waiter was very friendly and obliging while being entertaining without being annoying while providing a very good service. The prices are fair for the food (see above) as well as for the liquids: a bottle of water (0,75L) accounts for EUR 4.90.

Overall, the Restaurant Valentin offers great dishes at reasonable prices in a very nice atmosphere and great service! So, if you happen to be in Lindau, I can definitely recommend you going to the Restaurant Valentin.
