10. June 2012: Restaurant Brauhaus Bönnsch
The “asparagus cream soup with a chive cream topping, served with freshly baked Bönnsch bread” (EUR 4.50) was refined and taste-intense. The soup was creamy indeed and had big chunks of asparagus so you would actually really taste the asparagus. The Bönnsch bread was crunchy and yummy.
On Sundays, there is an offer “all you can eat Schnitzel” for EUR 12.50. I went for the “Kutscherschnitzel” which is a Schnitzel with roasted onions and bacon and is accompanied by French fries. Believe me, the all you can eat offer is amazing but you should absolutely not have eaten anything for 24 hours. The first round (I did not even make it to the second) were three Schnitzel with a good load of French fries. The Schnitzel are nicely thin, have a nice bread-crumb-crust and the onions and bacon mixture provides them with an intense taste – a good one.
The house beer (Bönnsch; EUR 2.50) is good too and all together, everything is pretty fair in price. The waitress is friendly but highly inefficient – she would not be able to take the empty dishes with her when serving the new ones. Well, everybody does what she or he can. The atmosphere outside is pretty average but inside it is pretty nice – like a real old brewery (or kind of like an Irish pub).
Overall, the Restaurant Brauhaus Bönnsch is a nice place to have a tasty dish for a fair price with mediocre service in a relatively average atmosphere.
