7. July 2012: Ristorante Bucatino

Great local Italian food wherer you barely find any other tourists – as a starter I had a selection from the antipasti buffet (Antipasto al Carretto – between EUR 6.00 and EUR 14.00 depending on the amount you take; mine was EUR 12.00).

The antipasti were from tasty to very tasty and were mostly very freshly prepared. Only the quality of the mozzarrella was a bit disappointing as it was somehow dry and chewy.

As a primo I decided to go for one of the “dishes of the day”, the “Tagliolini Tonno Fresco e Carciofi” (noodles with fresh tuna and artichokes; EUR 12.00). The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce was tasty, the tuna was fresh, overall quite a good dish. But somehow I figured I had to try another pasta dish …

… so I had the “Fettucine cremolate al tartufo e funghi” (egg noodles with truffle and mushrooms; EUR 12.00). The pasta was absolutely delicious. I am usually not a big fan of truffles but I must say in this particular case with the creaminess of the sauce and the mushrooms added and the pasta cooked perfectly al dente, it was definitely outstanding.

Our waiter was a guy from Bangladesh, he was very friendly, helpful and nice while the owners (both Italian) were friendly but not attentive at all. The plates were empty, were looked at and were left there.

The prices are very fair for the dishes as well as for the drinks: half a liter of the red house wine costs EUR 5.00 (nothing outstanding, but quite okay). A bottle of water accounts for EUR 2.00 (three were consumed, one was charged), and a double espresso is charged with EUR 1.50. The only odd thing is the bread – they charge EUR 1.50 per person (even though if you do not eat any of the bread) and the bread is not so fresh anymore.

The Ristorante Bucatino is definitely a great place to go if you are looking for real original Italian dishes including a nice great antipasti buffet and perfectly al dente cooked noodles.
