8. July 2012: Ristorante Al Braciere

| July 22, 2012 | 0 Comments

Antipasti is a typical Italian thing – so I decided to have something which was not that typical and went for “Fried Zucchini flower with anchovies” (fiori di Zucca fritti con alici; EUR 3.00). The fried zucchini flower was good and the anchovies provided it with the right amount of saltiness.

As one antipasto is usually not enough, the second was “crostini misti (prosciutto, alici e funghi)” (Crostino with ham, anchovies and mushrooms; EUR 7.00). Mysteriously, in the end there were not three crostini but four on the plate – well, not to complain about but positively surprised about it.

The “Pizza Bresaola con acciughe” (EUR 8.00) was good – it was think, freshly made in the oven, the Bresaolo was plenty and tasty, the rucola was fine and the parmesan cheese pieces were not only tasty but also quite big – real cheese chunks! Yummy!

The restaurant was a small place, a non-touristic one although pretty close to Piazza Navona, the interior is simple but nice and the service is friendly but not very attentive. When the plates were empty it took them quite some time to take them away – or when the bottle of water was empty and I desperately tried to order a new one, noone was paying attention.

Still, the food is good, the prices are fair for the dishes as well as for the drinks – 0,5L red house wine accounts for EUR 5.00, a bottle of water for EUR 3.00. If you are around the Piazza Navona area and you are looking for a non-touristic restaurant, the Ristorante Al Braciere is definitely a good place to go.
