31. August 2012: Restaurant One Flew South
Airport restaurants can actually also be quite good – I had to learn when having a stop-over in Atlanta. The Restaurant One Flew South offers a Japanese kitchen (sushi) and adds typical American dishes to the menu. As a starter, I had “Spicy Tuna Rolls” (tuna, english cucumber, yusu-koshe mayonnaise, olive oil, chive) for USD 14.00. The rolls were freshly prepared and great in taste.
The main course was – apparently – their star dish, the “Concourse E Burger 4 Pound Kobe” (goat cheese and shitake mushroom spread, frisée, tomatoes, pickles) with five spice fries for USD 16.00. The meat was perfectly juicy, tender, and still red and the combination of the cheese and the mushrooms made it very tasty. The best part were the fries. Although I am usually not a big fan of fries, the five spices they had put on them made them just delicious!
The place is nicely decorated and creates a feeling of wide- and openness. The waitress is very friendly and helpful but it took her quite long to bring my second mineral water (USD 4.00 per bottle).
Overall, the Restaurant One Flew South is definitely a great restaurant to eat something when stoping over in Atlanta (or eating something before take-off). The food is fresh and good, the prices are fair, the place is nice and the personnel is quite competent.
