13. February 2010: Restaurant Ai Scalzi

| February 14, 2010 | 0 Comments

The restaurant Ai Scalzi is located within around 200 meters walking distance from the main station in Venice. It’s not really looking too nice from the outside, but definitely acceptable. It’s quite a touristic place to go to but it’s comfortable going there after a quite long ride with the train from Milan.

The atmosphere is not really overwhelming when you’re sitting inside, but you have quite a nice view on the outside (on the Canale Grande) but it’s quite crowded with people.

The service seems to be not so good in the first place as it takes some time until you’re actually served and asked for your order, but once you’ve ordered, it takes only a short time for the dishes to come. The waiters are friendly and helpful.

As a starter course we had “Bruschette con salmone affumitato” which was eatable, but not outstanding.

As a main dish, I had a Pizza Diavola which was good, but a bit too oily, so not really outstanding either. Still, the dishes are large enough so you’d get enough to eat and will feel appropriately filled.

The prices are decent for being quite close to the central station and actually being the first place to go for all the tourists.

All in all, the restaurant is a good place to get something to eat, but not much more.
