9. December 2012: Restaurant DOTS twentyone

| December 18, 2012 | 0 Comments

I have been to the DOTS in April this year and it was a blast – so I had to try out the “new DOTS”, DOTS twentyone. So, I did! And well, it was quite good but just not the same as the real DOTS. But first things first, I ordered various sushi: “Hello Kitty” (red rice from the bio carrot, black caviar, mayo, fried shrimps, and soy sprouts; 8 pieces; EUR 16.90), “California Foie Gras” (foie gras, fig chutney, mango, kiwi; 8 pieces; EUR 14.90) and “Cheese Steak Roll” (beef filet, cream cheese, young onions; 8 pieces; EUR 13.90) as a first round.

The sushi was truly good – the Hello Kitty was delicious, the foie gras a bit disappointing but the cheese steak roll great again. Still, of course 24 pieces were not enough so as a second round the following was picked: “Truffles Asparagus Maki” (fried asparagus, truffle oil, marinated tuna; 8 pieces; EUR 14.90) and “Bloody King Crab Roll” (king crab tartare, worcestershire sauce, carrot, chili powder; 8 pieces; EUR 15.90). The Bloody King Crab Roll was mouthwatering, the Truffles Asparagus Maki not so great.

Overall, the sushi is of exceptional quality and definitely offers great taste experiences – but the quality of them varies strongly from sushi to sushi. In any case, it is definitely worth a try but if you decide to pick one, then I would definitely go for the “real” DOTS.

For desert, I went for a “Caramel Cheese Cake” (EUR 3.90) which was quite good and tasty but did not taste like cheese cake at all – but as I like caramel, I must admit, it was good. For the whole evening, I had “Mango Basil Lemonade” (0,5L; EUR 3.90) which was special in taste but also quite nice.

The place is somehow very cold – it is quite big, a long room, just newly opened, and somehow it lacks in atmosphere. Although the interior is modernly designed and provdes a nice combination of different colours, it is just somehow lacking real atmosphere. The waiters are friendly and do a good job but as it was half empty, no waiter really felt like he was responsible for the table, so we had to wait quite a bit inbetween.

What makes it really appealing is the fact that the DOTS twentyone is on Delinski.at and if you book your table via Delinski.at, you get 30% off your bill!
