23. January 2013: Restaurant Schloss Brandis

| February 1, 2013 | 0 Comments

Certain circumstances led to the fact that I had dinner again at the Restaurant Schloss Brandis the next day again. This time I decided to have something else and started with a “Riesling soup from Maienfeld” (CHF 12.00). The soup first gave me the impression of being rather thin but it had a very intensive but not overwhelming taste of Riesling – definitely lovely.

As a main course I decided to have once more in my life a “spicy beefsteak tatar with butter and toast” (CHF 45.00). It was great that we were served a small portion to try if the tatar was spiced up to our like. We asked for a bit more spiciness and we got it. The beef steak tatar was tasty, no question, but it was somehow too much one mash and not like a combination of small pieces of meat. I mean, it was good, not bad, but it was somehow not having the right consistency.

When we ordered coffee, we were served a small selection of cookies and they were very tasty. Definitely a great finish for a fair meal.

Overall, the dishes were good – the soup was truly great, the main course was okay but was somehow just not perfect in consistency, and the cookies were delicious. The service is nice and friendly and when we asked them to speed up the service they did. The prices are fair for what you get and last but not least the place is still very nice!
