Delicious food experience with a mixed food concept: Restaurant Garage @ W Abu Dhabi (11. February 2021)
Since I have not had the chance to see certain things when I was last time in Abu Dhabi, I decided to take another trip there, and I didn’t regret it (e.g., visit the Sheik Zayed Mosque on a Saturday, not on a Friday). Also, visit now, since everything is basically empty and you have all for yourself!
Anyways, I was residing at the W Abu Dhabi while I was there and was invited by the Assistant Director of Sales who I know from my Vienna times. We went for a luscious lunch which was incredibly enjoyable. The “beetroot hummus” (30 AED) is the perfect start into a meal but only …
… in combination with the “Beiruti hummus” (30 AED) which was even better.
Of course, there needs to be enough pita bread to enjoy every single little bite of hummus – which bears the risk of eating too much hummus for the rest which was also very enjoyable.
The “Acevichado tempura roll (tempura prawn, green asparagus, pickled pepper, acevichado sauce, avocado)” (45 AED) was something I was a bit skeptical about but I must say, it turned out to be delicious. Definitely a sushi roll I’d eat again (and I actually did two days later).
The “ceviche clascio (Greek seabass, cilantro, lime juice, Peruvian corn, sweet potato)” (48 AED) was good and enjoyable too but there I have this one ceviche in memory which I had at the beach of Mexico which was prepared from freshly caught fish – and that has never since been beaten in terms of flavor, intensity, and deliciousness. But the one served here was absolutely good.
The “USDA Prime Tenderlon (180g) with steak fries chimichurri and house-smoked bbq sauce” (140 AED) was tasty since the meat had a nice crust, was perfectly medium-rare as ordered, and went well with the two sauces served. Luckily, the French fries were also crispy as they should be.
The restaurant is located on a terrace which allows you to sit outside and to enjoy your food in the open air – which is especially good in COVID times. All in all, I liked the Garage a lot despite the fact that I was rather skeptical as it combines a lot of different cuisines but they really manage to prepare each dish so it feels like it’s close to the original and, of course, they add to the experience by providing exquisite service. So, even if you don’t stay at the W Abu Dhabi, I can recommend you to come and eat here.
