Tasty but nothing like real Mexican cuisine: Restaurant Chintumá Taqueria (11. December 2021)

| March 6, 2022 | 0 Comments

When I’m kind of starving and just want to find a place where I can eat something tasty, then I tend to retort to Google – and often it works. There was this Mexican place with a 4.7 rating and I was, of course, skeptical if it was actually able to mimic Mexican cuisine. Now, it definitely wasn’t. I went for the “quesadilla mix de quesos (tortillas de trigo caseras con mix de queso con lechuga, col roja, pico de gallo, cilantro, crema agria, frijoles, queso cheddar)” (EUR 5.00) which was not really what I had hoped for when I ordered a quesadilla with just cheese. I mean, it wasn’t bad necessarily but it was also not really outstanding in any kind or form.

The “tacos de cerdo al pastor (cerdo adobado con achiote, piña y chiles, servidos con cebolla y cilantro)” (EUR 7.00) were a bigger disappointment though since they were served as hard shell tacos. That’s just not anything close to Mexican food and it shows – also by the fact that piña was added to the mixture of ingredients. So, while this wasn’t bad in the sense of not enjoyable, it didn’t really resemble authentic Mexican kitchen at all.

The place itself is definitely simple – and you have to be patient. Despite the fact that the order was simple and the place wasn’t really full, it took a full 25 minutes until the food was served. Frankly, a bit too long for what you get, for my personal gusto. Other than that the waiter was friendly. So, if you’re into a modern reinterpretation of Mexican food, aka Tex Mex, then it’s okay to go here. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, then I wouldn’t recommend going.
