A good deep dive into the local cuisine with cullen skink and haggis: Restaurant Whiski Rooms (26. April 2024)
If you want to go for a truly local experience, then the Whiski Rooms is definitely a good choice. I decided to go for two really local dishes, so I picked the “Cullen Skink (Scottish fish chowder, sourdough bread)” (GBP 9.00), which is a thick chowder, which I absolutely enjoyed. Not something for people, which enjoy mainly super light flavours, but if you enjoy a bit of an intense flavour, the cullen skink is definitely a good choice.

Then, of course, I had to finally try haggis! The “Haggis (bashed neeps, mashed potato, crispy leeks, whisky sauce)” (GBP 18.00) is something of quite a peculiar taste, but I must admit that was actually quite delicious. Sure, relatively intense in flavour, but absolutely great. Definitely something I can imagine enjoying on a regular basis.

The place is quite traditional when it comes to interior design – definitely a place, which has been around for a bit. The staff is friendly and swift, so, all in all, the Whiski Rooms is a place, which is good to try the local cuisine.
