A nice little restaurant worth looking for: Restaurant Fonda 115 (30. May 2024)

| September 10, 2024 | 0 Comments

The Fonda 115 is a ‘must-know’ place, so, not necessarily something you will just walk into by coincidence (I mean, sure, you can, but it’s rather well hidden). Once you’ve entered, you’re served some “spicy sauce with popcorn”, which is the only way so far I have enjoyed popcorn.

Then, you get to pick a main dish, and get a soup and a salad as starters. Today, the soup was a “sopa de lenteja con menta”, which was tasty in flavour, but a tiny bit too watery for my personal gusto.

As a second starter, you got an “ensalada con vinaigrette de piña”, which was nice too. Not as great as the soup, but rather refreshign to get some salad in a Mexican restaurant for once (definitely not something I had seen a lot in the past in Mexico).

As a main, I had gone for the “tacos de picaña con tuetano” (220 MXN), which were delicious. The tacos were outstanding, and the bone marrow from the bone were just delicious. Definitely a dish I can recommend you to try.

Last but not least, it was time for a small “dessert”, which was some kind of cake, but I cannot recalll what type of cake. And frankly, it was much nicer than I had expected (especially since I don’t especially enjoy cakes).

The interior is simple, but in any case very appealing too. Hence, it is a very simple, cheap (in terms of price) and lovely experience.

On top of that, the staff is friendly and makes sure you have everything you need and want at all times, which is just lovely. So, even though the Fonda 115 is not easy to find, I would highly recommend you to do a bit of searching to find this place.
