A great Italian standard dish to be enjoyed – Spaghetti Aglio e Olio: Restaurant Roma (17. July 2024)
Given there aren’t too many restaurants on the Guide Michelin without a Michelin star, I haven’t tried when in Luxembourg, I decided to give the remaining Bib Gourmand ones a chance. Hence, I went for the Roma, which is an Italian restaurant, what is typically not what I would pick (since I prefer to eat local food instead of Italian food when abroad), but I was happy to be surprised.
I went for the “beef tartare stuffed with diced vegetables and black truffle” (EUR 27.60) and I must admit that it was actually surprisingly enjoyable. At first, I was a bit surprised since I had over-read the part with the diced vegetables and was a bit surprised. But it actually turned out to be superbly delicious – minus the fries, because they were rather stroppy.
As a main, I went for a typical Italian dish – the “Spaghetti Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino” (EUR 22.70), which were great. As simple as they were, they were cooked perfectly al dente and the combination of fresh olive oil with garlic and peperoncinis was absolutely great.
The place is rather crowded, i.e., there isn’t much space between the tables, so, it wouldn’t be optimal for a very private conversation, however, if you are just having dinner by yourself, the place is absolutely fine. The staff is friendly and swift when it comes to serving the beverages, however, when we talk about the speed of the kitchen, it takes its time. To be fair, though, the place was rather crowded when I arrived, so, it was somewhat clear that one would have to wait. All in all, the food was good, the place is nice, and the staff is friendly.
