Talking about the weirdest breakfast buffet setup ever: Restaurant Plantn @ Sapphire House Antwerp, Autograph Collection (21. July 2024)

Admittedly, I went to breakfast only shortly before it closed around 10:20am (it closes at 10:30am), but the way the buffet was staffed and setup was really somewhat disturbing and unsettling. There was a tiny room where you could find bread and spreads as well as a coffee machine, but nothing else much. Hence, I was definitely a little surprised how little food there actually was.

Luckily, there was also cereal, which was nice to see that they didn’t just have bread and spread …

… but when looking at the juice selection, it turned out to be rather disappointing. I mean, you get three fresh juices and then the carafes are not even remotely filled up.

The patio is rather lovely – you have space, and the tables are sufficiently apart, so, you get a feeling of privacy. What isn’t so great is the fact that they do not manage to clean tables – or to ensure that there is sufficient cutlery around for you to be able to eat your food.

And yes, after a bit of searching, there is a second room with food (bacon, eggs) around the corner, which is somewhat hard to find. And frankly, I do wonder why one doesn’t really make sure to label things, so people can at least find it relatively easy. All in all, I do admit, the overall experience was not in line with the rest of the experience of the hotel stay, which was actually great.
