Baby back rips marinated in Coca Cola is definitely something interesting to try: Restaurant Schuman (6. August 2024)

Honestly, the restaurant landscape in Luxembourg isn’t what blows my mind – unfortunately. So, I was spending quite some time to find a place, which offered nice and enjoyable food. It seemed that I was successful, since the Schuman looked quite nice, and you even had an area to sit outside (although it was rather hot with long trousers). As a starter, I decided to go for the “CCCC (Ceviche of cod, corn, and coriander)” (EUR 9.00), which was actually surprisingly nice in flavour and comparatively cheap.

As a main, I went for the “Coca Cola baby back rips” (EUR 24.00) with “broccolini (with lemon chilli dressing)” (EUR 7.00) on the side. Now, usually I would be grossed out by the pure idea of Coca Cola to be used in a regular savoury dish, but given I always like to try new things, I gave this plate a chance. And I must admit it actually turned out quite delicious. Sure, it has a distinct flavour of Coca Cola, which is definitely something you need to get used to (resp. generally like), but it was definitely a flavour combination I haven’t tried before. On top of that, the meat was cooked perfectly and would come off the bone super easily. The broccolini was enjoyable in combination with the lemon chilli dressing.

After a bit of an initial time to get the menu and place the order, the waiters were super attentive, swift, and friendly. So, all in all, the Schuman is actually a good place to try some interesting dishes, relax a little with good service.
