A place you can stop, but nothing where you have to stop: Restaurant Samúelsson Matbar @ The Old Dairy Food Hall (18. August 2024)
Finding something in the middle of nowhere in Iceland isn’t entirely easy, especially not if you have certain expectations towards your food intake. In any case, I decided to go for the “fish ‘n’ chips (deep-fried fish, mixed pickle salad, truffled fries & lemon)” (3’699 ISK) with a “side salad (Chinese cabbage, pickled red onion, cucumbers, fennel, cashews, mustard seeds and hoisin sauce)” (1’399 ISK) as I felt like I should have fish and chips at least once as it is offered on basically every single menu. The fish was actually quite nice – the fries were a little disappointing. The side salad was better than expected.

The place is kind of a food hall with different food stalls, and you order your stuff at the respective counter, and then have to pick it up. So, all in all, a simple but overall good concept. The food was decent, but nothing exciting either. So, if you’re around here, it’s fair to eat here, but not a must to stop.
