A decent dining experience, but nothing extraordinary in terms of overall experience: Restaurant Quadro @ Westin Dragonara Resort (10. September 2024)
Given I didn’t feel like going anywhere, I decided to have my dinner in the restaurant adjacent to the resort, and I must say that it was actually quite decent. Once you’re seated, and have waited a while, because they were incredibly busy, they serve you a “melon soup” as an amuse bouche, which is nice to get started.
Then there is some “fresh focaccia with spreads”, which were lovely. The garlic spread was especially exquisite.
I then went for the “cheese fondue agnolotti (Hokkaido sauce, green asparagus, pear chutney, almond & sage foam)” (EUR 20.00) and while it was delicious, it felt also wrong to pay EUR 5.00 for one dumpling. I mean, that’s just off in terms of pricing.
I decided to go for the fish of the day, which was a “grouper” (EUR 35.00) and I picked “mixed crispy leaves” (usually EUR 5.00) and “grilled Mediterranean vegetables” (usually EUR 5.00) as sides, and both were great. The fish itself was nothing special, but with the sauce and a bit of lemon, it actually turned out to be quite nice.
To finish the dinner, they served “macaroons”, which were quite lovely, but a bit too dense for my taste.
The place looks nice, but feels a bit like in the Middle East when you walk in – a bit fake, to be honest.
And finally, the view, I imagine, is quite nice during the day since you get to look at the sea, but at night it’s just too dark, but still quite okay in terms of atmosphere.
The staff is friendly and attentive, so, one can’t say anything negative about the place, but all in all, it just doesn’t fully satisfy your expectations towards a great restaurant. I think I was bothered must by the price for the four dumplings.
