A nice Asian restaurant in terms of food, but a bit less in terms of interior: Restaurant Kuya Asian Pub (14. September 2024)
Given I wanted to try a good place, I followed the Guide Michelin, but there aren’t too many places open on a Saturday in St. Julian’s, and given I had tried the other, I went for the Kuya Asian Pub, which is located on top of another restaurant, which is a bit funny. In any case, I decided to try a bit of something and started with the “Japanese chicken gyoza (grilled chicken gyoza glazed in a Japanese teriyaki sauce)” (EUR 6.50), which were actually nice and not an overly large portion.

Secondly, I went for the “pork belly bao buns (steamed bao buns with slow cooked pork belly drizzled with a hoisin and sweet chilli sauce)” (EUR 7.50), which were rather big for starters, but they were, admittedly, also delicious, so, definitely you can take to share.

Then I had the “drunken udon noodles (stir-fried with shitake mushrooms, spinach, ginger and chilli topped with peanuts)” (EUR 13.50) as a main, and they were truly delicious. The udon noodles were thick and great in flavour, but frankly, all in all, the portion was too big to finish in the end.

The place is not great in terms of atmosphere or furniture, but you get good food for a fair price – and the staff is friendly and helpful. So, if you’re in for a quick bite, then the Kuya Asian Pub is a good choice.
