Great rooftop experience when the first rays of sun are out: Restaurant Modissa Rooftop (11. March 2025)
It’s a while ago since I’ve been at the Modissa Rooftop, but I figured one might as well give it a try again, given the first rays of sun just had come out. Given they are somewhat renovating the building, it was a bit tricky to get up there since they had not blocked “to order” the elevator, which wasn’t accessible. Hence, it turned out to be a bit tricky to eventually get up to the rooftop. Once that was accomplished, they were happy to accommodate us outside, although I had originally booked a table inside.
As a starter, I went for the “gyoza (steamed and fried fish dumplings with truffle butter)” (CHF 22.00), which did not only look pretty, but were actually quite delicious. However, CHF 5.50 per dumpling is too much – even for Zurich!
What felt like a bargain, though, was the “crispy duck salad” (CHF 32.00). The portion was quite huge, and you definitely had enough after this meal, that’s for sure. And luckily, it was easy to eat up since the duck was actually quite enjoyable.
The staff was friendly and attentive and brought the food within no time – plus, made sure that you would also be able to settle the bill swiftly. So, all in all, the Modissa Rooftop is actually quite a nice place offering more than decent food – giving you a nice breather on top of the former Modissa shopping mall.
