A great place for meat lovers – go for Le Grand Plat: Restaurant AuGust (29. April 2025)
The AuGust is a place I kept a positive memory of, so, I was happy to pay that place another visit and given it’s known for meat, we decided to go with a “beef tatar” (CHF 39.00) as a starter and I must admit, it was actually quite enjoyable. Including the fact that they served enough bread and made sure to bring more butter within no time – unlike so many places where you end up waiting and waiting for more bread and more butter.
For the main course, we discovered something, which immediately called our attention – the “Le Grand Plat AuGust Chaud” (CHF 59.00 per person), which comes with a selection of different meat dishes like the “Züri veal cuts” (aka “Züri Gschnetzeltes”), which was absolutely lovely in terms of flavour and taste – but large enough a portion for two to enjoy.
Then, you get “meat loaf, Wiedikerli, petit tender” on top of the previous course, and while two plates of meat do not look like overly much, they are actually more than sufficient, and what is quite impressive is also the quality of the meat.
If you add the “spaetzle” and “spinach” to the equation, you will immediately feel why this is more than enough. And the good thing is, they are even bringing complimentary spaetzle and spinach – so, for Zurich CHF 59.00 for such a portion of food and in that quality is really not a given!
So, to me, with friends who enjoy meat, this is definitely a place I’d come back to.
