Decent food but somehow not the best atmosphere: Restaurant Mizumi (10. May 2025)

| June 8, 2025 | 0 Comments

The Mizumi is a place, which doesn’t look too appealing from the outside – but it actually improves a bit when you walk inside since it’s clean, orderly, and overall fine, while from the outside it looks a bit rocked down. Once inside, I was quite hungry, so I figured to get a few things like the “gyoza chicken (fried Japanese dumplings with chicken and sweet-sour-sauce)” (EUR 6.90), which was quite okay. I mean, it should be called ‘chicken gyoza’ instead of ‘gyoza chicken’, but taste-wise it was fine.

The “spicy tuna roll” (EUR 9.50) I went for next was fine, but a bit too heavy on the stuff around and too light on tuna. So, frankly, this could have been better.

However, the “udon crispy duck (fried udon noodles with Chinese cabbage, snow peas, soy balsamic)” (EUR 18.50) was superbly nice again. Sure, the hangover I’ve had was also the perfect base for such a dish, but, in any case, it was quite tasty and the crispy duck was cooked crispy to perfection, just how you would like it.

So, frankly, from a food and price for quality perspective, it was quite okay. Definitely nothing to complain, and something I would probably visit again in a similar situation. However, the service was not really attentive (you really had to make sure they’d see you, and no, the place wasn’t packed; they forgot an espresso, they forgot to bring the ordered ice cubes) and somehow there was a smell in the air, which wasn’t great. So, all in all, I am not sure I would really go again.
