A unique experience of food, surroundings, and photography: Restaurant Verōnika (10. May 2025)

The Verōnika was a marvelous recommendation – frankly, this place manages to combine style, class, and good food with good service – and all of it for a fair price. Once you’re seated and have placed your order, you’re served “bread & butter” and the bread is this light, buttery brioche, which is so enjoyable. And the butter is perfect at room temperature, so, it spreads easily and evenly.

As a starter I went for the “tartar finger toast (milk veal, quail egg, fresh horse radish, chive)” (EUR 24.00), which looked a bit boring when it was served, but it actually turned out to be quite delicious – and a bigger portion than one would expect from looking at it.

As a main course, I went for the “beef filet” (250gr) with “Broccolini” (EUR 9.00) and “French fries” (EUR 9.00). The beef filet was cooked nicely, medium inside as ordered, and had a good flavor. One could have added a bit more salt, especially salt flakes, but other than that, that was great. The Broccolini was prepared in a way that you would get the full flavor, which was nice. Only the French fries were disappointing since they weren’t very crispy, which I always find rather disappointing.

The “cheese platter” (EUR 18.00) was better than expected, and more generous too, but it wasn’t something to remember either. So, good ending to a lovely dinner.

The place is quite nice, and if you manage to get a table close to the kitchen you get to watch the chefs prepare the food, which is quite enjoyable.

The best thing is that the restaurant is located in the Fotografiska Museum, which hosts interesting exhibitions – so, you can combine it with visiting that exhibition when you’re dining here, which is quite nice. My recommendation: Book in advance, make sure you get a table close to the kitchen, and also reserve tickets for the exhibition. A perfect combination – and to finish it off, you can go to the rooftop bar, which is in the same building. Booking in advance is a must.
