A lovely place for a late night drink in a basement bar: Minus One Bar @ W Prague (16. May 2025)
Without guidance, you probably won’t find the Minus One Bar, which is located in the basement of the W Prague – but it’s a well-hidden spot worth being discovered! The bar is on the first floor of the basement, which makes it well-hidden, and it has ‘two areas of bars’, one a bit more traditional, which is the Minus One, and one with apparently a bit more fancy drinks (which we didn’t try out). As drinks, I decided to first go for the “Tiki 2.1 (Tanduay Double Rum 16+5, açai berry, vanilla rooibos, almond milk, salt)” (345 CZK), which was quite lovely in terms of taste and intensity. However, given the huge ice cube in the middle, it is one of these drinks, where I always wonder if I’m getting enough for what I’m paying.
The “Bubbles 2.1 (Beefeater Gin, Bianco vermouth, strawberry, sakura blossom, sencha tea)” (345 CZK) turned out to be also quite nice overall – again, a bit of a large ice cube there for me, but the lightness and subtleness of the drink was just great.
The place is nice, a bit stuffy to be honest, though, and the service is generally friendly. The guy seemed a little unexcited the moment he left the table (i.e., turned away), but other than that, it’s definitely a place you can frequent when you’re visiting Prague.
