A lovely restaurant experience in a former hip club in central Berlin: Restaurant Crackers (23. May 2025)

The Crackers had been on my to-do list for a very long time already, and finally I had a chance to try it. The place is a former club, which has turned into a restaurant by now. That being said, you can still feel the club vibe in the place. Once you’re seated, you’re brought “brioche with butter”, which is quite lovely – the bread is fluffy, and the lavender butter is definitely something to enjoy.

To start, we decided to try the “Bauer Peter Salad (tarragon, cucumber, shallot)” (EUR 16.00), which was a regular salad, so, definitely nothing exciting, but a decent salad. If I had known beforehand what a ‘Bauer Peter Salad’ is, I most likely would not have ordered it.

The next starter we picked was a “burrata (celery cabbage, gochujang, rhubarb)” (EUR 20.00), which was actually quite nice. The quality of the burrata was good, and the other ingredients with which it was served, were quite fitting.

As a main, I decided to go for the “ox cheek (cucumber, radish, Bohemian knoedel)” (EUR 39.00), which was actually quite nice. The radish definitely wasn’t cut ‘bite-size’, but other than that, it was absolutely tasty. Even the Bohemian knoedel, which I didn’t touch at first, since it looked like a slice of bread only, turned out to be quite tasty once the waiter had informed me that he considered this the best part of the dish.

Together with the main, I had the “green beans” (EUR 8.00) with “Crackers French fries (hand-cut, fried in peanut oil, homepage ketchup, mayonnaise)” (EUR 8.00) and I must admit that both components were not only plenty, but also good. But they were too much so that I was actually not able to finish the dinner.

All in all, I quite liked the Crackers, because it allows you to pick good dishes for relatively fair prices, and on top of that, you get a cool vibe and nice atmosphere to spend time in.

Given the place is rather booked out, even if you walk in for dinner at 10pm (like we did), I would highly, highly recommend you to book your table way in advance if you want to dine here.
