A true gem from an interior design perspective – and with good dishes too: Restaurant La Sastreria (28. June 2025)

This place was highly recommended for their paella and its interior design, hence, I figured we should give this place a shot. We started with the “lopez ‘Serie Oro’ anchovy on crispy fishbone and smoked butter” (EUR 5.50 / unidad), which is a great bite if you’re into anchovies. And, frankly, the combination with the butter really makes for a great meal. Incredibly simple, but yet so good!

Then we decided to go for the “carpaccio gamba roja” (EUR 27.50), which was absolutely okay, but a bit of a small portion on the one hand side, and a bit too chewy on the other hand side. So, all in all, this wasn’t really standing up to the other dishes.

However, the “sweet corn tortita, pumpkin pesto, and smoked pork meat” (EUR 6.50 / unidad) more than compensated for it. It looked so simple. Like a tostada in Mexico. But the combination of flavors was just perfect. I was almost ready to order another round of these – luckily, I didn’t, as there was so much more meat coming.

Unfortunately, the “chili ‘crab’ with poached egg and soft-shell crab” (EUR 14.50) fell short too, so, I was a bit skeptical really. Out of four dishes so far, two were absolutely great. Two were rather average. Sure, nothing bad or the like, but just really not living up to the standards you would have.

Last but not least we went for the “duck, farmed mushrooms, and foie paella” (EUR 23.00 x2) and it was delicious. Sure, it’s not the traditional Valencian paella, but it is absolutely mouth-watering. And the huge slices of foie gras in the middle would add that level of fattiness and greasiness you want to combine with the rice. An absolutely yummy dish!

On top of that, the place is absolutely gorgeous – the interior design varies by room, but no matter in which room you’re in, you will immediately feel comfortable.

The staff is also very friendly and attentive, and if you speak a word or two of Spanish, then their level of friendliness even increases.

So, frankly, while the La Sastreria does not have the absolute best ever food experience, they have a few dishes, which are truly outstanding and I can highly recommend you to try. And if not for that, but if you’re into interior design, then I would highly recommend you to pay this place a visit.
