A decent experience in the third restaurant of Ricard Camarena: BAR X by Ricard Camarena (29. June 2025)

It’s quite a while since I’ve last been to Valencia, and I’ve had the chance to try two of the three restaurants run by the Bar X. The Bar X is right next to the Habitual, but is a bit less formal and a bit more jovial.

Next in line was the “Valencian tomato, dried tuna, and stracciatella” (EUR 10.50), which was looking rather simple and I didn’t think much of it, but it turned out to be quite delicious – something I had not expected after it was served.

Given, we were in Valencia, we had to try a typical Spanish bite – the “croqueta de Jamon (EUR 3.25 / unit)” (EUR 6.50) was a great choice – but incredibly simple at the same time.

However, the other quite typical dish, the “cooked potato omelette with Easter sausage tartar and callos sauce” (EUR 12.50) was a bit less enjoyable. Not bad, no question, but definitely far from exciting and outstanding.

The “‘Figatells’ from Barx with caramelized onion and mustard sauce” (EUR 13.50) are yet another very local dish, which was overall interesting, but the ‘ground pork with pork liver sausage’ has a very intense flavor – so, it’s not for those who have an overly sensitive palate.

The place itself looks rather jovial and relaxing – and it is also that way if you’re being there. However, I must admit that the staff is actually superbly friendly and swift.

So, if you are looking for a place, which is inspired by Ricard Camarena, but are a bit more on the price sensitive side, then the Bar X by Ricard Camarena is definitely a good choice.
