A great place to enjoy your summer dinner outside with exquisite service: Restaurant Heugümper (12. August 2025)

I haven’t been here for over a year, and the last time when the weather wasn’t that great, so, seated inside. And while the AC creates kind of a perfect level of coolness inside, the summer offers that opportunity to sit outside on the terrace, which is really quite lovely. Once you’re seated, you get some “bread & spread”, which is absolutely enjoyable (the spread). The bread is good too, but nothing, which blows your mind.

As a starter, I went for the “scampi ceviche with red onions, coriander, avocado, sweet potatoes, and peperoncino” (CHF 29.50), which turned out to be much better than I had expected. The flavor profile was great – and that was enhanced by the texture profile, as there is this perfect combination of crunchiness, smoothness, and the middle layer.

Additionally, I went for the “fish of the day with risotto, vegetables and a lemon sauce” – which was great too. The risotto had a bit of a bite to it, the fish itself was great, and the flavor combination overall worked amazingly.

One of our group knew the head waiter, which made sure that we would have everything we ever needed at all times. And that wasn’t just true for him, but it was actually true for all the staff. Great food, great service, great service, and all of that for a fair price. So, I can highly recommend you to pay the Heugümper a visit – but you have to make sure to book your table in advance to score a place.
