A truly local place and, frankly, quite a lovely one: Restaurant Es Ventall (2. September 2025)

For the last evening on Ibiza, it was time to go for something more traditional, so I wanted to try a few different dishes and went for the “empanada de ternera con verduras, mahonesa de ají y cilantro” (EUR 5.00) to start with, which was actually not only great in terms of flavor but also came with a deliciously spicy sauce.

The “sant0ña anchovy 0.0 on home-made focaccia with smoked butter” (EUR 7.00) is definitely on the expensive side of things for one anchovy, but I do admit that it was superbly tasty (especially if you love anchovies like I do).

The “beetroot and ecologic strawberry tartare with cold almond-coconut cream and basil gel” (EUR 20.00) didn’t quite match up the one I had in the Piazza Duomo a few years back, but it was absolutely tasty and enjoyable. And the combination with the strawberry provided it with that little bit of sweetness, which was quite great.

Last but not least, I didn’t really know what to pick as a main course and listened to the waiter to get a recommendation. I’m not sure if that was the perfect choice since the “grouper fish loin with lobster cream, braised avocado and romesco” (EUR 43.00) was really nothing extraordinary. The fish is relatively dry and has quite a bite to it, so, not really something I enjoyed, although, I must admit, the garnish was great.

The place itself is nice inside …

… and even lovelier outside in the little garden patio.

What I also enjoy quite a bit is the fact that you get to have a straight look into the kitchen and could watch them prepare your meals (if you were seated closed to that area inside).

On top of that, the staff is friendly and attentive and makes sure that everything is brought to you within no time. Plus, on top of that, they are very considerate and making sure that you’re properly taken care of. And that applies to all staff, which is not really a given. So, if you’re looking for a local experience on Ibiza, then the Es Ventall is a good choice. Make sure to book your table in advance, especially if you’re intending to dine in the garden.
