A succulent Chinese meal is what you get here: Restaurant Pu Tien (Kitchener Road) (2. October 2025)

I was looking for something I hadn’t eaten before, so I figured giving the Pu Tien (Kitchener Road), which is the original Pu Tien branch, a try, wouldn’t be too bad an idea. The place is simple, but has a nice interior and the waitress (an elderly lady) was very caring and friendly. I decided to go for a few different dishes starting with the “shredded pork with sesame bun (pillowy, golden fried sesame bun is filled with stir-fried shredded lean pork for a savory burst of flavor in every bite)” (SGD 11.60), which was absolutely great in terms of flavor and textures, but the buns were a bit too greasy for my personal gusto.

Given it was a Chinese holiday, I figured I should go for their speciality and decided to go for the “golden crispy-skinned eel tail (experience the firm, satisfying chew of our active eel tail)” (SGD 27.80), which was a bit tricky at first since the bite has quite a chew to it, but after the first two bites, it actually turns out to be enjoyable. And it goes very well with the spicy sauce it is served with.

Secondly, I picked the “braised duck with ginger (traditionally braised in clay pot until duck is charred and fully flavored. Best paired with ginger slices)” (SGD 26.80) and I didn’t quite know what to expect. However, the duck was absolutely delicious and the ginger slices, which came with it added to the whole dish.

To sum it up, the experience at Pu Tien was a good one – simple place, but tasty dishes and all of it for a fair price. And the waitress was actually more than friendly and helpful at all times, so, if you’re looking for some tasty Chinese food, then the Pu Tien is definitely a great place to have such an experience in Singapore.
