A decent option when you’re in Kotor: Restaurant Pepe Nero (11. October 2025)

| November 13, 2025 | 0 Comments

Finding a great place for lunch in Kotor is actually not that easy, given the town is very touristic, and it seems hard to find a genuinely local place. Hence, we figured that we would take the next best thing, and went for the Pepe Nero starting with an “octopus salad in the Bokelian style (octopus, capers, red onion, cherry tomatoes, olives)” (EUR 19.50), which turned out to be quite delicious. So, a much better start than I had expected.

As a main, we decided to go for a “fishplate for two (sea bream fillet, sea bass fillet, salmon, shrimps, black risotto, octopus, red risotto, and clams)” (EUR 77.00) to share. And I must say, all in all, the fishplate was good. The fish was a bit too dry for my personal gusto, but the shrimps were nice, and the risotto was fine too. So, the best fishplate I’ve ever had? No. Quite decent? Yes.

The place is simple, but actually quite appealing in terms of design, and it made you feel comfortable there. That being said, the waiter, who was very friendly, attentive, and professional, also added his share to the positive experience.

That being said – I wouldn’t say it’s typical food from Montenegro, but the dishes are tasty, and the service is excellent. So, if you ever make it to Kotor, then it’s definitely a place you can visit.
