The same procedure as (almost) every year: Fondue-Chalet Klosters Hüschi @ Wienachtsdorf beim Bellevue (29. November 2025)

| January 7, 2026 | 0 Comments

Is it something fun? Yes. Is it way too crowded? Also, yes! But once you’ve made it into the Fondue-Chalet at the Wienachtsdorf beim Bellevue, things relax a little. I mean, sure, it’s still too busy, and there are still too many people, but if you manage to ignore that, you can get a few “dried meats from the Grisons” (CHF 25.00) to get started. The portion is fine, but not overly generous, but okay to get started.

We then went for two different fondues. The “chili fondue (mountain cheese, Züri Oberländer and Gruyère, refined with home-made chili paste)” (CHF 33.50 per person; two people in the picture) plus the “Champagne Fondue” (CHF 38.00 per person) (not in the picture) with “potatoes” (CHF 8.00), “cornichons, spring onions, corn cobs” (CHF 7.50), “braised garlic” (CHF 5.50), and “bacon cubes” (CHF 9.00). And while all the additional things are lovely, I must say that they sure come at a price. I mean, CHF 9.00 for a little bit of bacon is – a rip-off. No matter how much you like bacon and how well it goes with fondue, it’s just way too much.

The staff is generally friendly and also, especially considering the size of the place, overall attentive. The one thing, which struck me a bit odd, was the fact that there was almost no waiter or waitress speaking German. Not that this is a must, but given you’re in Switzerland and there are still people who actually don’t speak English, I found it a bit surprising, to say the least. Other than that, it’s a nice experience with friends – once a year.
