Great food, friendly service, slow kitchen, and loud atmosphere: Restaurant Obalski (16. December 2025)

| January 23, 2026 | 0 Comments

I wasn’t quite what to expect from the Obalski given I hadn’t heard about it, but I must say, it was a nice surprise. I went for the “pork belly (leek onion, teriyaki, black sesame)” (EUR 13.50) as a starter and the pork belly was absolutely delicious. It had the perfect texture and the right amount of fat to make it flavorful without making the fat overpower any of the flavors. However, the size of the bite was nice – but a bit expensive for what you get.

As a main, I went for the “fried chicken (cole slaw, cucumber kohlrabi salad, spicy mayo, lime dip)” (EUR 19.50), which was absolutely lovely – the chicken was breaded perfectly, rich in flavor, and came with a nice selection of cole slaw and cucumber, so, really just a great bite. I also enjoyed the two sauces it was served with.

Last but not least, the “wild broccoli with hazelnut” was the perfect side to make you feel like you wouldn’t only eat fried chicken and pork, but also something healthy. And frankly, all the dishes were really enjoyable – so, definitely something I can recommend.

The place is nice, but it is rather crowded, making it hard to hold a conversation, since it becomes quite loud really quickly. That being said, the staff is friednly and attentive, but it took the kitchen quite a while to prepare everything. In any case, I would highly recommend you to book your table in advance.
