A great drink experience at No. 40 of The World’s 50 Best Bars: Drink Kong (31. December 2025)

The Dring Kong is No. 40 among The World’s 50 Best Bars, so, I figured, I need to give it a try! That being said, heads-up, a booking is highly, highly recommended. Once seated, you get a small “welcome shot”, to get your palate started with the booze.

We decided to go for the “edamame with Shichimi pepper” (EUR 6.00), which were quite tasty, but you need to put the pepper onto the edamame and shake and steer them in the powder, making it a rather intense spice.

The “olives” (EUR 5.00) were quite nice too, didn’t have too intense a flavor, but were nice.

The “nachos with homemade ketchup” (usually EUR 3.00) were part of their complimentary nibbles, but I must admit that the fact that they offer you these things just like that, definitely already gave them credit. And although I’m not the biggest fan of nacho chips nor ketchup, I must say this specific combination was actually quite nice.

Then it was time to try some of their drinks they are apparently famous for, so, I went for the “Sintesi (Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Amaro Santoni, lemon juice, passion fruit, saffron honey)” (EUR 17.00), which was light and refreshing and hence perfect to get started.

The “Shogun (Martini Vermouth Rosso, Martini Riserva Bitter, apricot, black sesame, hazelnut)” (EUR 15.00) was somewhat even better as a drink.

Given it was the last night of the year, it seemed like they were giving out quite a few shots, so there was another “shot on the house”, which was simple yet nice.

Then it was time for the “Glitch (Haku Vodka, blueberry, white chocolate, Savoia Americano)” (EUR 16.00), which was lovely, and I especially enjoyed the …

… ice cube in the glass as it was themed to the bar’s logo.

The “Shizuku (Etsu Gin, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, yuzu, pandan, sichuan pepper, lemongrass, coconut)” (EUR 17.00) was intense, but refreshing and a great pitstop before …

… getting the “Gaijin (nikka coffey grain whiskey, miso, milk, pineapple)” (EUR 20.00), which was definitely an interesting drink from a flavor perspective, but also from the perspective how to drink it. I mean, that worked somehow, but it wa a bit tricky and you would have to focus quite a bit to not spill the drink.

The final drink of the evening was a “Hustler (Whistle Pig 10 Rye Whiskey, Nespresso, Vermouth Gran Torino Superiore Rosso, coconut milk, pisco, Dom Bénédictine, verjus)” (EUR 18.00), which had a a strong caramel note, which I personally enjoy, but I can very much imagine how someone is not so much into the caramel.

From a theme perspective, all is kind of themed the same way …

… always getting that gorilla face on everything.

So, to sum it up, the Drink Kong deserves to be on the list – great drinks, vibrant atmosphere, and great staff. So, if you’re looking for tasty drinks, then the Drink Kong is definitely a place you should try. Make sure to book your table way in advance, since the place gets crowded easily.
