Good for a swift business lunch – but expensive: Restaurant Bärengasse (16. January 2026)
It’s a good year ago since I’ve last been to the Bärengasse before, and then just four days ago. That being said, I figured I wanted to try something typical for the restaurant in the form of “Dieter Meier’s Roastbeef “Ojo de Agua” with sauce Béarnaise” (CHF 49.00). What they don’t tell you is the fact that you get two portions. And you have to, because when I got the first 3.5 slices of roastbeef, I was a bit taken aback by the fact that this costs CHF 49.00. Luckily, I got another 3 slices afterwards (no picture taken), so, it wasn’t all that bad, but frankly, it’s realyl on the expensive side of things.

The “white wine risotto” which I chose with it was fine, but it was rather overly foamy and on top of that, the size was a little bit disappointing (i.e., small), but it was, indeed, tasty.

The place is simple and nice, but the tables are too close to each other to actually have some privacy for a proper private conversation. That being said, the staff is friendly and attentive as well as attentive. So, from a service perspective, the place is fine. And that shows, because it’s the perfect place for a swift business lunch, but it is also rather expensive. In any case, they are always booked out, so, I would highly recommend you to book your table in advance.
