An amazing view and the best value for money you can get: Restaurant Taverna Agios Epiktitos (1. March 2026)
For my last evening on Cyprus I ended up in the Taverna Agios Epiktitos, which is apparently superbly popular because you have a view onto the lights of Limassol. Given it had been booked out the previous day, I was lucky enough to score a table on Sunday evening. The menu options are superbly limited – there is basically ‘meze’ in three types (full, vegetarian, or without pork). Obviously, I decided to go for the full experience in the form of the “Cypriot Meze (22 traditional items, cooked, meats, and dessert)” (EUR 27.00). It started with a “refreshing salad”, a “halloumi soup”, “olives”, “tahini”, and “tzatziki”. I was a bit skeptical of the halloumi soup, but it turned out to be excellent in terms of flavor.

Next in line was “grilled halloumi”, “pork neck”, and a “local sausage”, which were all great. I mean, the pork neck was a bit too fatty for me, but other than that, it was truly enjoyable.

Then it was time for some “croquette” (I forgot the tame), “egg, tomato, and halloumi”, and “couscous”. The croquette was somewhat unexciting, but still enjoyable. The couscous was absolutely delicious (better than the version on Friday evening) and the eggs with tomatoes and halloumi were quite nice too.

Then it was time for “beef liver” with “potato chips”. The beef liver was good, but it was something to chew on, but still, enjoyable. The “potato chips” were too dry for my personal gusto, without having that crispiness you would want from fries, but in combination with the tahini, it was actually quite fine.

The “chicken kebap” was tasty in terms of flavor profile, but it was a little too dry. That being said, it was fine with some tzatziki or tahini.

Next in line was a “something wrapped in a wine leaf”, “some kind of potato gnocchi” and “buckwheat with cheese”. While I didn’t find the first two too appealing, the buckwheat with cheese was absolutely delicious!

Then it was time for a “pork kebap” and “some sausage”. To me, the pork kebap was a bit too much on the fatty side of things, and the sausage was too raw. Given both, plus the fact that you get so so much food, I had enough, and decided to not enjoy any further dishes (there would have been two more courses plus dessert).

The place is simple, yet appealing – and if you manage to get a table by the window, you will actually get to see the lights of Limassol. Now, if you don’t, and I had booked once more last minute, then the view isn’t as great as it could be.

The staff is superbly friendly and overall very attentive, so, you will ultimately have a great experience with tasty food for absolutely no money, so, make sure to book early enough, so you have your table by the window.
