Absolutely delicious food – but the service isn’t on top of things: Restaurant Fleischerei (18. April 2026)

The restaurant operates exactly as the name promises – it has a strong focus on meat! Hence, it was time to try some meat dishes and I started with the “beef croquettes, celery, port shallots” (EUR 12.00), which were – truly – tasty. Especially the shallots worked very well together with the croquettes!

As a second starter, I picked the “crispy pork belly, salsa verde, onion, sumac” (EUR 12.00), which was exquisite! Especially in combination with the salsa verde, it turned out to be outstanding. I mean, the pork belly was perfectly crispy (and hence a little dry) and the salsa verde just added that juicy moistness, which balanced it off perfectly.

Now, to this moment, all was great. The staff was friendly and attentive and the starters were served within 20 minutes or so after placing the order. Then, the waiting began. After 50 (!) minutes I asked where our main courses were – and it took yet another 20 (!) minutes, so, a total of 70 (!) minutes until the main courses finally arrived. Usually, I would have been superbly annoyed, but given they were friendly, admitted their mistake, and offered free dessert, I figured, it’s fine.

Finally, the “angus beef filet (200gr)” (EUR 32.00) with “sauce béarnaise” (EUR 5.00) and “green beans with bacon” (EUR 6.00) as well as “salad (with radishes and herbs)” (EUR 6.00) arrived. The meat was delicious and cooked to temperature (‘medium’). The sauce béarnaise seemed freshly made and was rather delicious. The salad was okay, and the beans with bacon were fine too. So, all in all, a great meal – just served about 40 minutes too late.

Then it was time for that dessert on the house, the “home-made vanilla soft ice with caramel and salt” (usually EUR 10.00). I hadn’t expected such a massive portion, so, I was a little overwhelmed. That being said, the soft ice was actually enjoyable and they really hadn’t saved with the caramel. The salt on top, if you mixed it well, worked a charm and really added to the flavor experience of the dish.

So, to sum it up – the food is great at the Fleischerei and so is the staff. However, from an atmospheric point, the place is too loud. It’s hard to have a conversation without yelling, which is a little annoying. On top of that, as friendly as the staff was, a ‘pause’ of 70 minutes between the starter being served and the main being served just seems way off. In any case, the place is super crowded, so, it’s an absolute must to book your table well in advance.
