A nice place, but not suited for rainy evenings: Restaurant Avra – Creating Feelings (1. May 2026)

Since we didn’t want to travel too far given it was pouring, the Avra was the location of choice. And with a 4.9 online, it didn’t seem wrong to try it. And, it wasn’t. I went for the “crispy moussaka croquettes (moussaka croquettes, beef ragout, green apple, tomato paste & Gruyère souffles)” (EUR 11.80) as a first starter, which were decent, but frankly, they didn’t fully feel like beef croquettes, but rather like stuffed things with more than beef (and they were). But, they were decent.

The “shrimps Saganaki (sauteed shrimps, fresh tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese & ouzo)” (EUR 14.50) were fine. Personally, the shrimps were a little too dry for my personal gusto, but they were enjoyable. On top of that, that tomato sauce was superb and would go very well with the bread.

I decided to go for the “fresh fish (400gr) (sea bass with orange and lemon sauce, flavored with summer herbs and steamed vegetables)” (EUR 23.50), which was definitely a bargain. The fish was grilled nicely, and I enjoyed it quite a lot, but the fish was rather bony, i.e., it wasn’t entirely easy to eat without getting stung in your mouth. One of the small bones even stuck in my tongue. What I truly loved was the fish when you poured that delicious olive oil of theirs over it – it was truly delicious!

The “veggies” which came on the side looked a little sad, but at least they were served in a nice lemony sauce, which made it still enjoyable.

So, all in all, the restaurant Avra isn’t all too bad in terms of food. It isn’t set for strong rains as the water was getting in under the windows, which made the floor inside wet. But other than that, the interior is quite nice, and the staff is generally friendly and attentive – only when it came to ordering the bill, we had to wait quite a little. Booking in advance is recommended – also off season.
