Absolutely mouth-watering dishes in a former wine cellar worth visiting: Restaurant Alati @ Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort (13. May 2026)
The first evening on Santorini already created a truly memorable moment – as a starter, we went for the “green salad, rocket, sun-dried tomato, cucumber, zucchini, toasted almonds, capers, lemon dressing, smoked salt” (EUR 18.00), which was one of the best salads I have had in a long while. Not only because the selection of the ingredients was great, but also because the dressing was exquisite.

Next in line was a selection of vegetables as the “grilled tender stem broccoli, zucchini, eggplant, roasted pistachio tahini” (EUR 12.00), which was actually also quite good, but the veggies could have been a bit warmer.

The “tuna tartare, citrus-tumeric dressing, grapefruit, lemon hearts, wild garlic capers, extra virgin olive oil” (EUR 28.00) was not the cheapest item on the menu, but, again, the flavor combination was mouth-watering, so, definitely a dish I would order again.

Next in line was the “grilled octopus, aromatic herb sauce, pickled onions” (EUR 31.00), which was at least equally delicious. Especially the aromatic herb sauce really added to the dish.

Also, rather lovely was the “roasted artichoke, aged Graviera, lime zest” (EUR 23.00) although it didn’t come close to the artichoke I enjoyed a week earlier in Bilbao.

The “Lahanodolmades (cabbage rolls, minced meat, parsnip purée, egg-lemon sauce, puffed rice, dill oil)” (EUR 28.00) were quite tasty as well, so, frankly, some perfect dishes, which were highly enjoyable.

As a finish, we decided to pick the “home-made Greek yogurt ice cream, honey, caramelized walnuts, extra virgin olive oil, thyme” (EUR 16.00), which was pure sweet sin, but a delicious one, so, definitely something I could also recommend.

We were attended by Eri and Panos that evening and both did an amazing job at making us feel welcome and making sure that we’d have everything we needed at all times.

The Alati is located in a former wine cellar, which really creates a lovely feeling and somehow a level of coziness.

So, all in all, even if you don’t stay at the Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort, I can recommend you to dine at the Alati.

It’s not the place with the spectacular sunset (given it’s in a wine cellar), but it’s truly lovely, and you will feel welcome immediately. And on top of that, the dishes are really exceptional.
