A breathtaking view and delicious dishes, but a pretentious place: Restaurant Five Senses (14. May 2026)
I must admit, I was not entirely sure what to expect of the Five Senses and overall my assessment is a mixed one. The place is absolutely gorgeous with the view onto the bay and the sun setting, it’s just breathtaking. I mean, seriously, it’s not something you see so often in your life, so, for that alone it’s worth visiting the place. That being said, the staff is attentive and friendly and brings you to your table right after you’ve arrived. However, then it takes a while until you’re brought the menu. Once you’ve placed your order, you’re brought a few small bites as amuse bouches, which were quite lovely.

The first dish was a “red snapper sashimi, fennel, orange and citrus dressing” (EUR 25.00), which was – overall – tasty and, I suppose you could say, a good start for the evening.

The “sea bass tartare, green apple, celery and lime juice with Moscatel grapes (EUR 24.00)” as a next dish was actually surprisingly nice looking and tasted well as well, so, it was definitely in line with the previous dish.

What I found super interesting was the “tomato, pickled cucumber and onions, local cheese and wild capers” (EUR 20.00) as the flavor and texture combination was a bit unique and different to so many salads I had tried, so, definitely a big plus for this dish!

The “homemade tagliolini with grilled crayfish and fresh summer truffle” (EUR 35.00) on the other hand were a bit of a disappointment. Now, one might say that you are not supposed to eat pasta in a “non-Italian” restaurant, which is somewhat fair, but I just felt like it. And I’m not even saying it was bad, it just wasn’t remotely as good as the starters.

Last but not least, it was time for a few chocolates, which were decent.

As mentioned, the true thing here is the view. It’s really breathtaking and something worth enjoying, when you’re in Santorini – make sure to book early enough.

So, all in all, the Five Senses is a lovely place and offers you a great view of the sunset and the bay of Santorini. While the starters are great, the main wasn’t really. And while the service was throughout friendly, they were lacking a bit of attentiveness in the beginning. Generally speaking, just my personal impression, the place is a bit driven by Instagram fame, which I find a pity, but is probably unavoidable. Would still recommend it, though.
