Amazing Georgian cuisine, but prepare yourself for a good rest with a full belly: Restaurant BaBo (24. May 2026)
The BaBo offers delicious Georgian cuisine and if you don’t mind being stuffed and almost unable to move, then you should order what we have ordered. We started with the “khachapuri megrelian” (EUR 12.50), which is something like a cheese pizza, but Georgian style, which is a bit different. But damn, it was tasty!

The “khachapuri adjarian” (EUR 14.50) looks lovely once it’s served, but a little less so …

… once it has been mixed. The way you eat it is by breaking off a bit of the crust and dipping it in the contents of the khachapuri, which is a bit messy, but actually works surprisingly good.

The “khinkali with Khaketian mushrooms” (EUR 8.20) and the “khinkali with beef and pork” (EUR 9.50) were interesting. I hadn’t tried the mushroom ones, but the beef and pork ones were good (to be fair, not as good as the ones I’ve had the previous day). The way to eat them is to take a small bite and drink the soup, which is inside the dumpling, and once you’ve enjoyed the soup, to eat the rest of it. You leave the “dough part” usually (you can eat it, but it’s not usual).

The “chicken liver” (EUR 9.50) was definitely something I enjoyed quite a bit – often chicken liver is a bit coarse and not really smooth, which was absoutely not true, though, for this version. So, if you’re looking for good chicken liver, then I can recommend you the one you get here.

As a main, I decided to go for the “braised veal cheeks in kharcho sauce (tashmijabi, walnut sauce, fresh herbs)” (EUR 17.50) with a “fresh salad” (EUR 4.90). I must admit that the veal cheeks were quite amazing as they were superbly tender and would pull apart easily. The fresh salad was a good balance of freshness combined with all the different (rather heavy) dishes.

The place is nice – inside, as well as when sitting outside. That being said, the staff is – after you’ve been able to place your initial order – quite friendly and attentive. It takes a while and you need to be a little patient until you get to place your order.

All in all, the BaBo is a good choice if you’re looking for authentic Georgian cuisine. Especially for evenings, booking in advance is highly recommended.
